Fun Local Restaurant in Bangkok
How do I even begin to describe this night? We went to a high end, local restaurant located near our hotel. We heard that the food was really good and that this was a hip restaurant. First the waiters brought us to a large table outside and motioned to two chairs. As always, they thought I was Thai and they were surprised that I didn't understand Thai, and that I wasn't Thai. Just as we were about to sit down, they told us not to sit down so we were confused. Turns out, they wanted us to sit on the other side of the table so that we could see the view of the river.
Whenever you are seated at any restaurant, you are handed a menu, then the waiter will stand there and wait for your order instead of coming back a few minutes later. By this time, we were used to this, only this was a ten page menu. Our waiter squatted down next to Marc and held his pocket flashlight over the menu and waited patiently for Marc to read through all ten pages.
After dinner, he came by and in terrible, hesistant english, he asked Marc, "Was it delicious? Are you happy?" He was very cute and so was the entire staff.
We were concerned that it would be hard to find a cab but about four waiters escorted us out, hailed a cab and put us in at the end of the night.
It was another beautiful evening in Bangkok.
